Every great blues player needs a great piano player and this is showcased with the combination of Kate Meehan and Skip Landy. Kate's gutsy vocals emerged from a jazz heritage to be further influenced initially by Koko Taylor followed by Kathy Murray. Kate has written and recorded music for three albums and won awards for Best Female Vocalist and for Song of the Year. In 2007, Kate was awarded Female Blues Artist of the Year in the VicTas Blues Awards. Skip's flair for boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues were and still are, influenced by the likes of Miles Davis and Professor Longhair. Skip is the winner of the 2003 Blues Instrumentalist Award. Together the duo perform foot stomping boogies, funky second line shuffles and intense, soulful ballads in a blend of rich velvet hues. |
