The Mackay Entertainment Centre celebrates its 20th year in 2008, and what an amazing 20 years they have been.
The community has been exposed to, experienced and enjoyed a wide diversity of performances encompassing everything from comedy to country, the outrageous to opera, the daring to dance, the weird to wonderful, the beautiful & brilliant and everything in between. We have enjoyed countless international performers, Australia’s finest musicians, comedians, actors and singers plus the outstanding talents of members of our community. We have seen the centre keep abreast with technology and become one of the best equipped regional venues in Australia, thanks to support from Council and the amazing and generous Friends of the Theatre. Occupancy rates and attendance numbers have steadily increased during this time to reflect the range of shows on offer and the growth of Mackay itself. In 2008, we again present a wide range of entertainment to amuse you, inspire you, challenge you and above all, entertain you. Twenty-two shows encompassing jazz and blues, dance, drama, the classics, comedy, music and instrumental and illusion have been programmed into a series, giving you the opportunity to join and save.
