The Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia
is internationally recognized as one of the world's great
Piano Competitions.
The Competition, inaugurated in July 1977, is held every
four years. It was admitted as a member of the Federation
of International Music Competitions in 1978, and is
presented in association with the University of Sydney
and with the co-operation of the Australian
Broadcasting Corporation.
Winner this year has been announced, Konstantin Shamray.
Konstantin was born in Novosibirsk and began studies
in the Kemerovo Music School and from 1996 continued his
studies in Moscow at the Gnessin Special Music School
and in 2003 at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with
Tatiana Zelikman. He has been the recipient of several
Foundation awards.
